When the Weather’s Turning Cold

When the weather was turning cold, walking on the street in the early evening, you would begin to feel the warmness of the city light. When the darkness was getting thick and the shadow of the city began to look obscure, suddenly you would be able to distinguish those tiny sounds rising and falling around you, so you would begin to notice a train was leaving the city and some crickets were hiding in the street corners. I had been sitting alone at a window table in a Mexican restaurant for about half an hour. When I looked outside and could see nothing clearly but my reflection on the window glass, I decided to go home.
